We provide an open space for youth and young adults to look at policies and procedures within the state and offer their feedback to both The Balance of State and HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development). The most important thing about YAB is to give youth and young adults a voice about state policies that may or may not affect their lives. The main goal of YAB is to end youth and young adult homelessness.
YAB has meetings twice per month where we:
- Discuss local events for the young adults to participate in
- Go over and sign new policies and discuss what the change may look like
- Make referrals to other organizations the young adults may benefit from
- Hear from outside organizations about services provided in the Coulee Region
At each meeting, YAB members are given the option to select a meal that is prepared for them at the following meeting. This allows members to enjoy food that they might not otherwise have access to and empowers them to have choice. Food insecurity is real and impacts youth and young adults in our community. To address food insecurity YAB members are able to choose to take a snack bag after each meeting.
Services available for eligible participants:

- Education and employment support
- Assistance to meet additional self-identified needs
